Guilty Pleasure

Although it's been around for awhile, I have just started to read Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga. And boy am I addicted; thanks to my friend Charina who insisted I read these books! Usually, I'm not a big fan of books with vampires and other supernatural beings, but the romance in these books is what got me hooked. Edward Cullen just makes your heart melt! I've actually read Twilight and New Moon in three days, and right now I'm having withdrawals because I have to wait until tomorrow to buy Eclipse.

Oh and no worries, I did feed and bathe K & T these past three days.

I'm hoping to finish Eclipse by the time Breaking Dawn comes out. Breaking Dawn comes out on August 2nd. I can't wait until the movie comes out-12/12/08!

Here's a link to everything Twilight: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/. Enjoy.

A Sikh Wedding

Today, Ray and I went to a Sikh Wedding, and it was a wonderful first experience. My friend, Vasilis who is Greek married Ruby who is Indian. It was so cool, seeing these two cultures mesh in today's festivities. We had such a good time, experiencing and learning all about the Indian culture through this event.

At the end of the wedding ceremony, guests were welcome to congratulate the groom and bride with monetary gifts.

During the wedding ceremony, our heads needed to be covered. Also, men sat on the righthand side, while the women sat on the lefthand side of the temple.

Here is the happy couple during their reception.

It was too bad we didn't get to stay longer; we didn't even get to have dinner :-( since it still wasn't served at 9:45 pm which was pretty new to us. Nonetheless, it was truly a beautiful wedding between two people so in love.

Congratulations to Vasilis and Ruby!

Happy Birthday, Li!

It's my cousin, Lianne's birthday tomorrow. Since I might not be able to post this tomorrow, I thought I'd post it a day early. Better early than late, right? Happy Birthday, Li! Hope this year is full of great things.

Here's a blast from the past. I think this was in Sesame Place 18 years ago; even before Lianne and Larissa's youngest sister, Lauren was born! Lianne is the one in the purple bathing suit, by the way.

Rica Fridays

Since I'm on mat leave right now and Erika (my SIL) is off on Fridays, K, T, and I usually meet up with their Tita Rika. So far, we've hit H & M, the States, nearby parks, and Peek-a-Boo (a local Japanese restaurant where Erika used to work at). I guess, you'll all know what we might be doing tomorrow.

Here are some pictures we've taken during these Fridays.

Watermania

Karch is in love with the water. It's been so nice and sunny here that we've been to the nearby waterpark everyday since Monday. Today, however, he just spent the afternoon in the backyard, playing with his favourite backyard toys, his Jeep and, of course, the hose and sprinkler.

Look who's 9 months now!

Tessa turned 9 months on July 9th! It's so amazing to watch her and how she observes her surroundings and interact with us!

Here she is posing at Paolo and Gen's wedding. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

She can stand now! Ray thinks she'll be an early walker! Yikes! Here she is with Karchy taking apart our dining room chairs (that still need to be stained, by the way!)

Here she is eating her fave cookie, Arrowroot, at the waterpark as she watches Karch play in the water.

Here she is sitting up with her "Dodong" Karchy. (Dodong is older brother in Bisaya...I think. At least, that's what Ray's siblings call him.)

Here's Daddy's little girl with one of her no. 1 fans!

Surprises on Canada Day

We celebrated Canada Day on July 1 with a few surprises!

Surprise #1

Gas prices went up again! It is especially higher because there's an added feature to the price. Our province, BC, has added a 2.4%/litre tax to all fossil fuels like natural gas and gasoline. The government says that this tax money will help the province go green and make its economy stronger. This tax money will also balance out tax cuts and incentives that the government plans to give us, British Columbians. To help ease the transition of this new gas tax, the province gave us $100 each. Even Karch got one. I don't know why Tessa hasn't received one yet, though.

Surprise #2

On a more fun note, Leslie, a friend of mine, is getting married! Her bridal party threw her a fun bridal shower! Can't wait til' the big day. I'm especially excited because, for once, we don't need to find a babysitter to watch K & T. All four of us will be attending her and Mike's big day!

Surprise #3

Aaliyah, our friends' daughter turned 9 and had a surprise party. Once again, Caryl did her usual awesome thing and planned a great party with awesome activities and favours for the kiddies. She made fairy/sprite wings for the kids, and she taught the children how to make their own grassheads aka chia pets!
